The Kosciuszco bridge connects the boroughs of Queens and Brooklyn, and is considered to be one of New York City's most notorious traffic bottlenecks. The structure is outdated, and unsafe and made the General Contractors Association of New York's top 10 list of "most
decrepit elevated roadways" in 2009. Parsons Brinckerhoff Project Visualization created four video simulations to give local residents the ability to visually compare each of their options at Public Open Houses held in February 2010. The simulations depicted the main span options from a variety of viewpoints within the project area, including local streets and properties, the waterfront, an animated driver's perspective on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway and an animated pedestrian's or bicyclist's perspective from the new bridge's bikeway/walkway.
